Pledges made today can be paid in full by the end of the current school year. You can pay a pledge monthly or quarterly with your credit card. Email to indicate your pledge amount and be counted as a supporter of the Annual Fund.


To make a gift of stock to The Children’s School, email our Director of Finance, Tim Kastelic, at to inform him of your intentions to transfer stock. Then, download the stock transfer form. You will receive a letter from The Children’s School’s Development Office informing you of your tax deductible contribution valued at the price of stock on the day of transfer.

The Children’s School intentionally sets tuition below the full cost of an education to make the private school accessible to as many students as possible. We rely on the Annual Fund to make up the difference and support our hallmark features, such as incredible specialty programs, small class sizes, individual classroom projects, and dynamic faculty. Funds from these gifts go directly to the current year’s operating budget, and TCS is able to use this money where it is most needed and most effective.

We strive for 100% participation from families, faculty, staff and trustees. When participation rates are strong, foundations and corporations are more likely to award grants and funding to TCS. It also inspires giving from other TCS families and our larger community.

Every gift is a symbol of our collective commitment. In determining your contribution, we ask each member of our community to consider what TCS in La Jolla gives to your family, and to give a gift that is accordingly meaningful.

Annual Fund Giving Levels

  • Changemakers: $15,000+

  • Innovators: $10,000 – $14,999

  • Sustainers: $5,000 – $9,999

  • Leaders: $2,000 – $4,999

  • Lifelong Learners: $1,000 – $1,999

  • TCS Friends: $500 – $999

  • TCS Supporters: Up to $499

All leadership gifts of $2,000 or more will be recognized at an evening reception in February 2022.

You can give online. You can pledge a gift to be paid in monthly installments. TCS can also accept gifts of appreciated assets such as stock or real estate which may offer the donor significant tax benefits. Fun Night

Fun Night is our annual spring fundraising event that supports the beloved students, teachers, and programs at TCS. It’s an opportunity for our community to join together to celebrate our school and support the next generation of change makers.

What is Fun Night and why is it important to The Children’s School?
Fun Night is our annual spring fundraising event, led by the school’s development department in collaboration with our wonderful parent volunteers. The funds raised are used to support our students and allow us to offer a significant Financial Assistance program. We know that a TCS education is one of the best gifts that families can give to their children. We want that gift to be available to as many families as possible. 

When is Fun Night?
Saturday, April 30th, 2022

Where will Fun Night take place?
The event will take place at the historic and beautiful La Jolla Woman’s Club, located at 7791 Draper Ave, La Jolla.

How can I help?
1. Volunteer: Volunteering is a great way to get involved! Join our committee meetings to discover the many volunteer opportunities throughout the planning process and the day of the event. Email if you are interested.

2. Sponsor or Underwrite: Sponsorship and Underwriting are very important to the success of Fun Night. By becoming a sponsor, you are assisting with the cost of the event, advertising your business to a community that supports local establishments, and receiving VIP tickets to the event (depending on level of sponsorship). Click here to see full sponsorship benefits. By underwriting, you are making a 100% tax deductible donation to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Underwriting allows us to cover various costs of Fun Night. When the costs are fully funded that means that every dollar raised goes directly to student financial assistance at The Children’s School.

3.Donate Auction Items: Our Online and Live Auctions raise critical funds and are a wonderful opportunity to showcase your business to over 200 families in the La Jolla area. Click here to donate an auction item.

4. Purchase Tickets: Another way to support Fun Night is to attend the event! After all, it is called Fun Night for a reason! It is sure to be a blast. Click here to purchase tickets.

    • Registration will open on February 10th, 2022.
    • Early Bird Ticket pricing of $150 will be available until March 31st, 2022, after that date, prices will increase to $175. The last day to purchase tickets will be April 15th, 2022 and only prepaid reservation holders will be admitted. No ticket purchases will be accommodated at the door.
    • Tables of 8 are also available for purchase and are the only way that we can guarantee table seating requests. 

What is the parking like at the La Jolla Woman’s Club?
Street parking is available on and around Draper Ave. However, it is La Jolla and parking can largely depend on the date and time. We encourage you to consider carpooling or using a rideshare service (ex. Uber, Lyft) for the evening. Have fun responsibly!

What should I wear?
Fun Night is a chance to dress up and have a great time! This year’s theme is Wild West, so you can get creative as you channel your inner salooner or show up in your favorite pair of blue jeans and boots. 

What do I need to do when I arrive?
The event starts at 6:00 pm. Every guest must visit the check-in desk to confirm their arrival, get their table assignment and bidder number.

What is the timeline of the evening?
6:00-7:15 – Cocktail Hour & Silent Auction
7:30-8:45 – Dinner & Live Auction
8:45-9:45 – Live Entertainment & Dancing

We have proudly partnered with Continental Catering and will be serving three meal options. Please make sure to list any special dietary accommodations during the registration process.

How does the Live Auction work?
Bid numbers are printed on individual cards and will be handed out at your table. To bid on live auction items, visibly lift and wave your card. Continue to hold your card in view of the auctioneer until your bid number is called. If you are the highest bidder, the auctioneer will announce your bid number as the winner. An auction volunteer will record your bid number on a confirmation sheet. 

Do you allow proxy bidding if I cannot attend the event?
Yes. We do accept proxy bids from non-attendees by filling out a form to let us set up a proxy bidder on your behalf. For more information, contact

How will I receive my receipt?
Your receipt will be generated by our auction platform, Greater Giving, within 1 month following the event.

Ensuring a beloved teacher’s legacy lives on for generations of students.

In May 2013, we lost a beloved educator. Maria Rose D’Orio taught Prekindergarten and Kindergarten at The Children’s School and was known for her commitment to the growth of educational programs at the school. To continue her vision for education opportunity, the D’Orio and Ford families opened a fund in her honor.

A successful fundraising effort led to the creation of an outdoor learning environment, Maria’s Dream Playground, on our campus for our youngest students. Future funds will go to support projects and initiatives that further Maria’s passion for joyful, child-centered education.
