After learning about the water cycle and the importance of water, our first graders brainstormed ways to save water. Here are some of their ideas:

  • Only take as much water as you need.
  • Don’t pour water down the drain or on the ground.
  • Use extra water to make ice.
  • Save water to drink later.
  • Pour extra water out over a plant.
  • Pour extra water into a pet’s water bowl.
  • Turn the water off when washing your hands or face or teeth.
  • Use less water in the bathtub.
  • Take shorter showers.
  • Collect water in the shower to water your plants.
  • Don’t flush the toilet every time.
  • Don’t splash water out of the pool.
  • Remind other people not to waste water!

If you are looking for additional ways to save water, ask our first graders for more suggestions!
